QUESTION: Shiekh, My husband came to US two years ago. He is working, but still struggling to meet our needs. I work and take care of my own needs.Each month he sends money to his family back home even he doesn’t have enough to send.He doesn’t give me any allowance. Even if I am working and contributing to home more than him, shouldn’t he give me something for my allowance as a husband?

ANSWER: She is a human being and has all the right to be angry. However, what makes her sinful is not her anger but rather what she does as a result of such anger.

QUESTION: I do not have any job , my husband hardly provides anything for me financially that’s why I cannot do a lot of things I cannot ask even for my essential things from him, even if I ask him to bring something he hardly brings it, as he does not provide me anything financially am I sinful for stealing money from his wallet or drawer in dire need?

ANSWER: You may take only what is needed for your basic needs.

QUESTION: In my culture when someone is married they give the couples a white wrapper to use on their first night to wipe the blood of the virgin, and the wrapper has to be returned to the relatives. I know it’s not islamic to do so. But to protect my wife’s honor, would it be appropriate to prick my finger and put some blood on the wrapper just to protect my wife from harassment.

ANSWER: You must put your foot down and totally prohibit anyone checking your bedsheet at all, this is absolutely degrading and insulting.

QUESTION: In our society, when a man gives money or gifts to his parents, it is appreciated but if a daughter gives her own money that she earned to her parents, in laws usually make an issue about this and call names to such parents on taking gifts from daughters. What is the ruling on this.

ANSWER: The in laws have no right, none whatsoever to say anything as such and the daughter in law is not AT ALL obliged to tell them or her husband what she does with her own money or how much she earns or have!

ANSWER: This is not permissible. You’re allowed only one meeting in front of your mahram where the guy comes to meet you for the first and only time.

QUESTION: I am a housewife and financially dependent on my husband and he gives me pocket money and never asks where I spent it. is it ok if I quietly give some chunk of my pocket money (not on monthly basis) to my mother as a gift without telling the husband

QUESTION: I have converted to Islam but my wife is still a christian, she told me that if i convert she can no longer be with me. ANSWER: Such an Imam is not part of the marriage contract. It is only for the purpose of registering it with the authorities.

QUESTION: Is it permissible to lie if telling that truth will lead me to huge sins? Example:If a girl maintains distance from non-mahram, but secretly has feelings for a boy without communicating. If he asks to her by a friend, if she has feelings for him or not, can she lie that she doesn’t have feelings in order to prevent fitna?
