QUESTION: I am married and have my own accommodation. There have been times some immediate family members make comments about my wife or her parents to me saying they don’t do this right etc etc, how do I deal with this appropriately without my wife feeling uncomfortable visiting my parents house where they all live?

ANSWER: If they are abusing your wife to her face and saying hurtful things, she must not visit them as she is not obliged to do so, especially if she doesn’t have a man who would stand up for her and protect her.

QUESTION: If I hurt my parents in the past, knowingly and unknowingly, and I am not sure if they remember, am I sinful if don’t apologise to them, and just be kind towards them?

ANSWER: If they do not remember it, it won’t be a good idea to remind them of it an open old wounds. Keep on being dutiful and obedient to them and try to make them happy and satisfied all the time.

QUESTION: I am getting married soon and my parents want to gift some gold ornaments to me for my wedding. They have done this as per their own will and I didn’t force them to get me anything. ANSWER: Children must not complain about their parents to the police as this is the utmost in being undutiful and would qualify an individual to enter hellfire.

ANSWER: Your husband’s money is his money and it’s totally prohibited and a major sin to take his money and spend on anyone without his knowledge or permission!

QUESTION: In our Village it’s a norm to enter anyone’s house n even room without seeking permission I’ve started practicing Islam but when I’m inside my room covering the door with curtains those non mahram men come without informing or making any noise so that I’ll cover up and they see me without hijab I talked about this matter wid my parents many times but they don’t do

ANSWER: This is ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED! Who does such a thing? Keep your room door locked and do not come in front of non mahrams at all! If you claim that you have no door to your room, always keep your hijab on!

QUESTION: Can I disobey my mother and fast on Mondays, Thursdays, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the month? I’ve often fast, but due to long bus travels and extreme weather in India, my mother worries and only permits fasting on weekends. Will I still receive the same reward for obeying my mother and not fasting? Can I still enter from ar-Rayyan?

ANSWER: You are not obliged to obey your parents in leaving voluntary fasts when there is no hardship on you and fasting won’t hinder you from serving them properly.

QUESTION: My parents are pressuring me to get married, but they consistently find fault with any potential suitor. When I decline, they urge me to reconsider, but when I agree, they criticize my choice and taunt me for considering it.
