My maternal aunt breastfed me for more than 2 years. Will her husband and son be my mahram? And also will her daughter’s children be my mahram?

ANSWER: If she breastfed you before you were two years of age 5 or more full meals, she is your mother and her husband is your father and her children are your siblings.

Sheikh, there are some non-mahram relatives & in-laws in my family who practice islam & maintain hijab but they don’t cover their faces & start to talk out of courtesy. When I go there, I maintain my distance & avoid talking to them to the best of my ability. If I have to talk, then I stick to the basics as per your videos. Will I still be sinful? Please advise.

ANSWER: You must not go to mixed gatherings to begin with. Exchanging salam while lowering your gaze if you happen to meet is OK, without chit chatting or hanging out in the same room.

My parents order me to take a friend of theirs to places by car. The problem is that she is a non-mahram to me. will this be considered khalwa as we will be alone in the car. If I refuse and they get angry, will I be punished.

I’m so much worried about my marriage. My father-in-law is step father to my husband and he keeps on controlling our marriage. I was silent till the moment. I go to my university through bus. I go to the bus station without any mahram. Is it sinful? And as in the university bus I alone go without mahram. Is it sinful too?? What if I don’t have any mahram to take me there, in this case would it be sinful too??

ANSWER: If the university is within your city limits then no problem in this as long as it’s safe to commute. The prohibition is for a woman to travel out of the city borders without her male mahram. It is prohibited to be in the bus alone with the driver without any passengers.
