I read in school. In our Bengali book there are stories and poems which contain shirk beliefs. We have to read and study them to get marks in the exam. Will I become a polytheist (Mushrik) if I read and write them in exam if I don’t believe in those this things?

ANSWER: You can study this only to pass the exam while hating it in your heart. It’s best if you write at the end that this goes against Islamic beliefs.

My grandma used to do this. Take onion peels, chilli , hair of a broomstick etc and wrap them in paper and take it in front of me and wave it and then burn the paper and the stuff inside it. This was done to remove evil eye and was checked by what the smell of the object burned indicated. Is this sihr which is apostasy? Do other ppl who believed this also fall into apostasy?

ANSWER: This is minor shirk.

So a man believes that a Amil can treat his probs.He wears amulets,hangs something on walls,they bury something underground in the house and says it prevents the jinn.So everything that’s common in desis is practised.But the wife,children are on tawheed.when they are surrounded by all these stuff will it effect them or prevent some good reaching them.they can’t change the persons belief.wht to do?

Is it allowed to wear mood rings in islam if we do not believe that it changes colour according to our mood since we know it changes according to the temperature

ANSWER: Most those who wear it have some sort of belief in it! Therefore, even if you don’t believe in such beliefs, you must not imitate those who do!

I belong to a joint family where my in laws and his whole family worship azmir and they offer sujud on the north side(sending salam). In the month of rajab they organise 7 days program called oros. I am bound to attend there because I am the youngest. But I don’t follow their rituals. Will Allah punish me for attending there? Is there prayers are valid?

ANSWER: It’s totally prohibited to participate in such shirk! If your husband is one of them, your marriage is void and you are living in a haram relationship!

Sheikh, can we customise our rings or pendant with stones ,something similar to gem stones?? Is it permissible??

ANSWER: No problem in this as long as you don’t believe they have some effect on us as this would mount to shirk.

Sheikh my question is that when we are reciting or listening to a naat( a naat is a poetry that speaks well of Holy Prophet SAW) are we supposed to send blessing on prophet Muhammad SAW each time we hear his name? Because if we could then, reciting the naat becomes very difficult, and all the people I see reciting naat, they don’t send blessings when reciting it?

ANSWER: You have to recite the durood upon hearing the name of the prophet salla alaihi wasalam. Be careful as such naat may contain shirk when they exaggerate in praising the prophet salla allahu alaihi wa sallam.

Below photo, it says in english, “These holy words are a blessing even if you can’t read them. They ease daily problems and increase your income from unsought sources InshaAllah”. Question: Is this shirk or bidd’ah?

ANSWER: This is absolutely prohibited to keep and believing in such a thing would mount to shirk.

Few years back, i had a Mannat(Nazar) that if I get job I will visit the tombs/graves of 3 Sufi saints very popular here in Pakistan. Can I go there and say my salam or recite fatiha or just for a short presence. If not, what would be the alternative to my mannat?

ANSWER: This is not permissible. You must expiate by feeding or clothing 10 poor Muslims.

Shaykh If a person ask my things planning to do any thing sinful may be shirk and I know that but I am giving it thinking giving this is ok and I am not accountable for his action what he used to do with it is this ok or I am accountable for his sin and If he is it to commit kufr is this take me out of the fold of Islam

ANSWER: If you know for certain that he is going to commit shirk with it and you still give it to him, this is assisting him on shirk and you will be as sinful as him.
