My question is,do we have islamic rituals that a mourning mother should perform because i heard that she is not allowed to clip her nails or shave. any dalil on that?

ANSWER: This is all baseless. When a child dies, a mother can mourn the child for three days and that is it. A widow on the other hand must mourn her husband for 4 months and 10 days. Clipping the nails and shaving is permissible in all cases.

Is it true that rewards of Quranic recitation, dhikr (reading surah Ikhlas 11 times or surah fatiha 3 times etc.) can be sent to a person who has passed on? I have seen people gather to recite Quran on behalf of somebody who has passed, to pass on rewards to them. Is this valid?

Sheikh, After the ghusl of a deceased lady is given, when wrapping her body with the funeral cloth… should her hair be tied at the back or should it be left along on each side of her so it covers her chest.

Does the community offer Janaza prayer for someone who would be cremated? The family does not want burial as they insist that they would be fulfilling the request of their decease family member. What does the imam and the muslims of the community do in this case?

ANSWER: As long as he is Muslim, the funeral prayer is his right. Insisting on being cremated is wrong and his family must not honor such a will or they would be sinful as well.

Regarding a question you answered on Twitter, for a woman praying the funeral prayer in the home, can you please provide the requirements to be fulfilled before the prayer? Such as is there a specific way/direction the deceased should be placed, where should she stand with respect to the body, where should she face (qibla or otherwise) etc.

ANSWER: The corpse must be between her and the qibla and she should stand next to his head.
