I work at an Islamic school in Malaysia. I spoke with the owner to explain that mixing between students is wrong. He agreed but said that there were not enough students to make segregation possible, and all the local Islamic schools are like this. He also said it would be illegal to impose the niqab on the females inside school. Are you able to suggest any solutions please Sheikh?

I went to Sears(a shop) to buy garments.I was unable to say to the salesman that it is haram to shave and to be a musbil,and that he should not do these 2 things.But I failed to tell him due to Shaitan’s silly distractions and perhaps because I left the shop 3 times due to dirty music playing there.Do I need to go to the shop again and tell him?or repentance is enough?

I work at a mixed Islamic school in Malaysia where many haram things happen (kids prostrate on hands, women post photos). I want to enjoin good and forbid evil, but have been advised that the atmosphere is sensitive and the authorities may shut the school down as we are already in trouble and labelled as a ‘Wahabi school’. sheikh, I was wondering if its permissible for a person to watch videos of someone talking about things or a review on stuff via youtube such as gadgets and phones just for the sake of practicing the language? (the videos doesn’t contain haram matters like women with open awra, but it has introduction/background music though(some), but only instrumental.)

You may do so and mute the introduction. Listening to music is not permissible and there are many news channels that don’t include music and can help you in learning English.

Shaykh I’m in the path of memorising the quran.I still do not start the path of talab al ilm as I will apply insha Allah in an islamic univ.So by know I’m following imams as bin baz al uthaymin. My uncle said me that you should follow the dalil not follow all what a person say without knowing the dalil(which is what I’m doing with you,I ask you and I follow what you say me).Is good what I’m doing?

It is good! What your uncle is saying is good only when one knows Arabic and has knowledge sufficient to enable him to know which is authentic and which is not and this can only be for a student of knowledge.

I need some advice. I want to travel to study Islam in Madinah, but I have a mother here and siblings. I have an older brother but he is not very stable and not very practicing. Knowing that it might upset my mother being away for so long. Should I stay or travel ??
