QUESTION: My local mosque does not accept zakat ul fitr in the form of food, is it permissible for me to give my mosque money?

ANSWER: If the masjid buys and gives food items to poor Muslims with that money then no problem. But if they only hand them cash, this is not valid.

QUESTION: My brother is an independent/financially independent adult but does not fast or pray. Is it acceptable for my mother to pay zakat al fitr on his behalf without him knowing?

ANSWER: No problem in this! However, if he doesn’t fast nor pray, this wouldn’t benefit him as he might be a disbeliever for not praying at all! She should be more worried about that than worrying for zakatul fitr

QUESTION: Last year I gave on the zakat deadline my zakat to my mother and aunt to distribute around in my hometown to the poor. They did this but they distribute partly every few months. Is this allowed or do I need to give my zakat to charities to do this?

ANSWER: Zakat must be given on its due date and must not be delayed for this long. You can take a couple of days extra but not months like this.

QUESTION: I have neighbors with children who aren’t doing well financially. They have an apartment and money for food, but the one salary barely covers her expenses. Sometimes they can cover everything, and sometimes they have to go into the red (e.g. little food). Can I give them Zakat al Fitr, or does it have to be given to someone who is much worse off?

ANSWER: As long as the salary doesn’t cover the whole month, it is permissible to give them zakatul fitr

QUESTION: I missed teraweh and I was installing operating system on my laptop so i prayed after i finished it. Is this work or some else hobby or money earned halal due to which we missed prayer in masjid and delayed salah and should I repeat process I did during that time?

ANSWER: Taraweeh is not mandatory so you’re not sinful for missing it in the masjid, however you have LOST a great deal of reward.

QUESTION: I have gone to many shops to sell gold however they gave me less than 50% of the value of the gold price unfortunately.Now when giving the zakat in cash should I go for the ongoing market price of the gold or the price which I got by selling the gold?

ANSWER: You give zakat according to the price you would get today if you were to sell it.

ANSWER: No problem in this at all! You can even pray in front of him in the same room as long as you are praying individually and not in congregation with him.

QUESTION: Cheikh, after praying Isha, the imam don’t let the time to pray the 2 nafila of Isha. So I prayed it after the complete tarawih when I go home. Is that correct ?

ANSWER: If he doesn’t leave time to perform your isha sunnah, this is fine to do it after witr in sha Allah
