Backbiting

If person 1 has said some wrong words for person 2, if I tell person 2 about what person 1 has said about him without adding anything from me, will it come under backbiting. My intention of telling was to aware that person 2.

ANSWER: This is called nameemah which is gossiping and would cause a fight between the two which is one of the main reasons for the torment of the grave. The prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: the person who does this sin will not enter paradise.

Married 1st cousin,spouse always looks for my siblings sins and backbites them to me, then tells me not to tell anyone, to keep the secrets that he has found out about my siblings, such as the haraam things they are doing. How to deal with this?

ANSWER: You must remind him that backbiting is a major sin and leave his company until he speaks of something else if he doesn’t stop.

At my workplace,lately there have been a lot of mistakes/misses happening in the team in our work. Many of my teammates have started complaining about others and their mistakes . I have been told to do the same by my teammates if i find such misses by the team. As this will quality of performance. I want to know if this is considered as backbiting.

ANSWER: No problem in this and its not backbiting cuz it’s nothing personal, it’s work related and necessary for better performance of the team.

I told somebody that I don’t like from a sunnah dae that he sometimes posts photos of his food on his Facebook page because some people who can’t afford it might envy him or be jealous of him, but I also said before the speech that I didn’t mean to discredit his work by any means. Is this considered backbiting and should I repent for doing this?

ANSWER: You are not sinful if you changed the topic, if this is not possible then you must immediately leave that place.

Sheikh, if parents discuss their children’s flaws among each other without the child being present with them, is this considered backbiting?

ANSWER: Yes, this is backbiting. However, if they are discussing this so that they can find a solution to the problem then no problem.

Sheikh, my parents backbites about others 24/7.. Its difficult for me to defending others or to convince my parents not to do it. And my relation with my parents become worse for stay away from them for their backbiting.What should I do now? As hearing them, I m also become sinful.

ANSWER: You need to be diplomatic and smart while dealing with them. Try to change the topic or leave to get some water when they start backbiting so that you won’t be there with them.

I share my frustrations with my friend I also journal my thoughts.But in the back of my mind I have this fear that doing this I am not solely relying on Allah.It is wrong what I am doing.I shouldn’t expose my thoughts to anyone other than Allah.So my Question is Is it wrong to nag with friends or anyone.Is my fear valid or just waswasa

ANSWER: It is not permissible to backbite others even when venting or sharing your frustration. It is not also permissible to write such a journal as this would be acting upon intrusive thoughts which one would be held accountable for on the day of judgement.

What is gibat?if i tell someone anything about a person will that be gibat?like if i tell an incident of my neighbour to my father will that be gibat?or if i have a complain about my colleague and i tell it to my boss will that be gibat?

ANSWER: If you talk about a person behind his back and he would not like it if he comes to know about it, this is backbiting. If you talk about this in front of a person who doesn’t know this individual, this is not sinful.

Me as a husband don’t want to hide something from my wife. So if I share (Someone’s secret, a conversation with a person, someone did bad to me, someone said bad words about my wife) to my wife having guarantee that she will only keep to herself inshallah. Is it sinful?
