QUESTION: Sheikh I read on Islamweb it is backbiting if you don’t specify but listener knows who you’re talking about which I am confused. I say someone did so and so instead of explicitly mentioning who. Please advise.

ANSWER: If you are not listening to it and you don’t know them, you are not sinful. But if you know who they are talking about, you should defend him or stop them or leave.

QUESTION: Will it be gossiping and backbiting if we say this and that celebrity had botox, plastic surgery or illicit relationships etc like this ? Where these things are quite obvious and known to everyone ?

QUESTION: If I backbit about someone and repented sincerely and never backbit again, and are too shameful to go up to them as I don’t want to cause problems, On the day of judgement will my good deeds still go to that person and I take their bad deeds even if Allah has forgiven me?

ANSWER: Allah is the Most Merciful and only He knows. In shaa Allah He will forgive you. Keep thinking positive, showing remorse and asking Him for forgiveness.

QUESTION: If someone backbites a deadperson,then also deadperson will get the good deeds of the backbitted person.

ANSWER: This is double the sin.

QUESTION: Sometimes I speak to myself alone if something upset has happened and I want to take it off my mind and behave normal like it never happened or sometimes to get things off my head and do what’s right…It’s like I’m scolding someone without their presence…Is this backbiting?Am I sinful for it? QUESTION: Sheikh I asked you a few days back about the change of govt and people’s backbiting on them, but when I tell my family that don’t backbite him and don’t listen to videos who are backbiting the govt, they say the PM is a thief and calling a thief, Thief is no gheebat, our economy is down poor suffering and you say we don’t even raise our voice against such inhuman things the PM is doing?
