I want to know the authenticity of the Hadith of Ibn Abbaas (in Jamè Tirmidhi) about Ali’s memory; in which he was told to pray 4 rakah on Friday night by reciting Surah Yaseen in 1st rakah, Ad-Dukhkhaan in 2nd, Surah As-Sajdah in 3rd and in last rakah Surah Al-Mulk for “Memorising Quran”.

ANSWER: Giving them a Quran in Arabic is not permissible. You can give them a translation of the meanings of the Quran but not the Arabic text.

I’m not fluent in arabic, i cannot understand it and so I prefer to understand Quran in english on the side while reading in arabic. Is it permissible to read the english translation only? Will it have the same rewards?

ANSWER: You won’t be rewarded for reading the Quran when you read the translation only as this is not the Quran! The Quran is what is written in Arabic. This is the Word of Allah.

Is it sinful to bring Quran from Harram(Makkah) or masjid e nabwi(Madina) to home to read it without asking anyone?

ANSWER: This is not permissible as it’s kept there for reading in the haram itself! This is a major sin and stealing from the house of Allah.

If someone is sleeping/studying or doing anything that requires concentration and I start reciting the Quran loudly in the next room and they feel disturbed. In this case is there any sin on me?

Sheikh, I want to ask if you have ever listened to …. .. …… I love listening to recitation and have actually learned many Surahs from them but some people have been saying he is singing rather than reciting. When I listen to him it doesn’t sound like he is singing. You’re the Sheikh I follow so can you please let me know if it’s okay for me to continue listening to recitations?

When a surah is Makki or Madani, does it mean ALL the ayahs in that particular surah were revealed in makkah only or madinah only and not the other city?Or does it mean only the beginning part of that surah was revealed at makkah or madinah?

ANSWER: There are surah that were all reveled in Makkah or Madina. There are Surah that are predominately reveled in one city but may contain one or more verses that were revealed in the other city.
