Shaikh what is the ruling on raising hands for dua in jumuah khutbah. Are we supposed to raise our hands during istighfar in between the two khutbahs and the dua made by imam at the end of second khutbah. Kindly explain.

ANSWER: One should not raise one’s hands when making duaa during the Friday khutbah except in the case the Imam makes Duaa for rain.

If I am praying in Jama’ah in the Masjid and I notice a clear spot in the row in front, can I move there whilst praying? What about if I have to walk in front of another person praying to get there?

ANSWER: If it is in front of you, walk to it. But if it is in front of someone else, don’t do that as this is his responsibility and you may walk there and half way he moves forward.

Is salah acceptable when prayed after eating onion n garlic? i have heard a hadith (interpretation of d meaning):muhammad pbuh said whoever eats onion and garlic,should not even pass by our masjids.

ANSWER: They must not go to the masjid to pray in congregation after eating onions and garlic, because the angels would be offended by its smell. They can pray at home, the validity of salah is not effected by this.

I am a Hanbali but most the Masajid around me are Hanafi who pray Jummah during Asr times according to us. Can I pray with them?

ANSWER: This is not permissible.

I have difficulty keeping up with the imams in Salah. The imams appear to recite at a normal pace, but I think I’m too slow. My problem is when I try to keep up by reciting faster, my focus in the prayer shifts away from the prayer itself. For this reason, I’ve been disliking the congregation prayer. Please advice me.

ANSWER: You must work on yourself and practice to recite faster in your voluntary prayers so that it would be easier for you in congregation. You must not think of quitting going to the masjid as these are whispers of Satan to make you abandon praying altogether.

During salah I had to cover my hair while standing. I used one hand to cover hair and other hand was on my chest. But during covering my hair my other hand also moved but still my hand was on chest. Is my prayer valid?

ANSWER: Your prayer is valid even if you used both hands.

I sometimes go to masjid for juma prayer and pray 2 rakah fard in jamat and leave. Whats the ruling of juma salah for ladies when they pray in masjid and when they pray at home. My parents have told me to pray usual dhur salah even on fridays.but what when v r in masjid.? Pls guide

ANSWER: If you go to the masjid for Friday prayer, you should follow the imam and pray 2 rakahs. However, if you pray home, you must pray 4 rak’ahs of dhuhr even on Friday.

With regards to yawning, since it comes from Satan, is it a sin to do? Sometimes I’m not able to control it. Also, do we have to cover our mouths if we do it OUTSIDE of prayer? And does it matter if we use our hands, or our fists to cover our mouths? Thank you for your time!

ANSWER: This is not sinful, but the sunnah is to suppress it as much as you can and to cover your mouth inside and outside prayers while yawning.

If a person unitentionally recite a surah after alfatiha in the 3rd or 4th rakah should one do sujda sahoo .

ANSWER: No problem in reciting another surah after fateha in the 3rd and 4th rakah, even intentionally. There’s no sujood as sahu for this as it’s not a mistake.

sheikh In kolkata(India) on entering evry masjid ppl wear the kufi for congreg. Salah & they take it off on leaving the masjid..one day I prayed without topi knowng that its bidah wht theyr doing..then i was the odd one out.Prophet(SAW) said dont stand out from a crowd..so i also started wearing.wht shud i do? Wear or not(then ill be only on praying bareheaded )&stand out frm rest

ANSWER: No problem in standing out in these situations as what they’re doing is an innovation by thinking that your prayer is invalid without covering the head.
