Is the traveller encouraged to also pray the sunnah prayers if he goes to the mosque, or only the fard ones?

ANSWER: A traveler is instructed not to pray the sunnah of thuhur, Maghreb and Isha. He can pray everything else as usual.

I have told my mum beforethat we should pray before midnight but she rejects it and gets angry. I wanted to tell her and my aunties that isha is 21:09 since they think it lasts till 12.00 am so I came into the living room and asked my mum if she prayed isha but I don’t know if they heard me as well.Also I told them to pray at 21:07. Am I sinful for telling them so late?

ANSWER: You should give dawah with wisdom and fair preaching. You must not order your elders or ask them like this. You should be diplomatic. Send her authentic videos or booklets about this topic instead of policing her.

Is dua in congregation allowed i.e. the imam says the dua and all of the surrounding people say ameen?

ANSWER: This is not permissible as it’s not from the Sunnah hence an innovation.

Can one pray at home if its cold outside to go to the masjid and it may cause further complications for his health as he’s very prone to cold?

ANSWER: Will his fear of catching cold stop him from going to work and buying stuff or this is only for going to prayer?

Is it mandatory to say ‘auzubillamishatan..rajeem-Bismillah..raheem’ in the beginning of every rakah OR Is it that i should only say bimillahi..rahem and carry on in the rakahs.i believe that we say ‘auzubillhi-minasita-rajem’ only once, in The beginning of the salah and if i get any distractions.what is correct please guide me.

ANSWER: Seeking refuge in Allah (aauzubillah hi…) in the beginning is sufficient. You simply say bismillah before reciting fateha and other surahs in the following rak’ahs. If you get distracted by Satan in your salah, you simply seek refuge in Allah and drily spit towards your left.

Sheikh, if I pray dhuhr or asr prayer behind an imaam, should I recite the dhikr in the ruku and sujood and in tashahhud or should I keep silent and just recite fatiha behind the Imam

ANSWER: You MUST recite all of this on your own even in loud prayers and loud rak’ahs.

Is it allowed in Islam to rest your hands on your hips or it is compulsory to fold your hands in prayers?

ANSWER: The sunnah is to put the hands on the chest while standing.

I be traveling soon to another city about 200kms journey inn shaa Allah, my salah be a travelers prayer but there so many masajid there, so when the adhan is called which can hear it ofcourse, do I join the congregation or pray the travelers prayer?

ANSWER: You can go to the masjid and pray. But if you pray home because you are a traveler, this is permissible. If you pray in the congregation, behind a local Imam, you must follow him and pray full.

I work in a private firm and the breaks are short . Is it permissible to pray fard only?

ANSWER: No problem in praying fard only.

For ishraaq prayer. Is it obligatory for one to remain seated in the place one has prayed Fajr in. What if one moves to another spot in the mosque? Or if out of necessity such as people moving or cleaning one gets moved form the place.

ANSWER: No problem in moving from one spot to the other as long as you are in the masjid itself.
