Does one have to pay zakat over money deposited in Fixed Deposit account in a bank for a year or more. The deposit is for security reasons as as one fears about cyber thefts. Of course, the interest earned is not utilized for self and is given to poor and needy.

Please is it allowed to give zakat weekly? I am asking this because i recieve my salary weekly and i am paid according to the hours or days that i work. I’m confused how to give it yearly because there are times i dont work for about 3 months. I hope you enlighten me on this.

You must pay your zakat after completion of the lunar year. Whatever possession you have at the end of the lunar year, you pay your zakat on it if it reaches the nisab regardless of when you got your salary.

I have recently sold my bussiness for a big sum of money.zakaah for 2017 was paid in Ramadan.I usually give it in Ramadan. Question is …Is zakaah payable on that amount next Ramadan.someone said only payable if I have had it a full year.. Paying is no problem Just need clarity

Yes, you must pay it next Ramadan if it is still with you or whatever is left of it.

A few of my friends with some other people in their university are fundraising to provide water and sanitation to the rohynga in our country.They are also trying to build a mosque for them(I dont know if there will be any bidah or not committed in that mosque).The funds are combined.Can the money of zakah be sent to them.

Sheikh the government takes alot of tax from us, the amount we pay is a very large proportion of our sales and profits, do we still have to pay zakat or is it included in the tax, as the tax amount is used on the poor or the running of the country?

You still have to pay zakat if you have savings that exceed the threshold.

My husband is eligible to receive zakat (he has no income) and I want to give him my zakat. If he keeps the zakat cash that I gave him at home and I spend out of it for me or our child, is it wrong? Usually he comes home late and I can go out (with my husband’s permission) and get our necessities whenever I need it easily.

Wealth that is being saved to get married, to build a home or for other purposes is subject to zakaah if it reaches the nisaab and one full year has passed, whether it is gold, silver or cash, because of the general meaning of the evidence which indicates that zakaah is obligatory on that which reaches the nisaab and one full year has passed, with no exceptions.
