My husband had taken a loan frm a bank which claims to be share’ah bank and now he wants to clear it asap. I used to earn before marriage and have some amount on which i have to give zakah. Can i and my family give him zakah money. Also, can savings account interest be used to clear this loan. As in india it’s difficult to get current account and we receive interest every 3 months

ANSWER: Ramadan has got nothing to do with your zakat. You must give your zakat when it’s due.

Considering the ongoing pandemic,can we give our zakat to organizations helping people with ration? Most of them are sharing pictures and videos as a proof of them being honest. We cannot personally check if they are keeping some amount to themselves or not. But just know that they are definitely helping some people.can we give zakat to them?

Sheikh a lot of people have told me there’s no zakat on diamonds or precious stones as these are just stones. What is the ruling since i belive that these can be looked at as savings too

ANSWER: They’re right, there’s no zakat on diamonds and other precious stones when used as jewelry. But if a person trades in them, he must give zakat on it.

My friend owes me some money and his financial condition is now in so bad shape that he cannot repay my money. Now I want to excuse him from giving me my money and want to treat this as zakat. Can I do this ? To qualify as zakat do I have to again give him money to repay me his dues ?

ANSWER: This is not permissible as there is a clear conflict of interest here. Give him your zakat if he is poor or needy but you can’t cross out his debt from zakat money!

My mother is above 70, she has a good amount of money. My dad has passed away. Her son is doing very poorly and the daughter’s husband does not want to do anything. Can my mother give her zakat money to them?

ANSWER: No, she can’t give her son or daughter from the zakat money. If her son in law is classified as poor and needy, she can give her zakat money to him.

The nisab for Zakah is either 85g of gold or 595 g of silver, correct me if I’m wrong. But my question is if I have 1000€ on the bank, the the nisab of gold is not reached, but the nisab of silver. Do I have to pay Zakah or not? Why are there 2 threshold mentioned and how can we know which is applicable one our money because silver is less in value than gold?
