ANSWER: No problem in praying voluntary prayers sitting. This is permissible, though this would be half in reward of the person standing up if done without a valid reason.  Standing up is a pillar in a fard prayer. Praying obligatory prayer while sitting with no legitimate reason is not permissible and the prayer is void.
