Sheikh, in my office there is arrangement of distributing sweets/foods on the occasion of ‘eid-e-miladunnobi’. Or sometimes the management arranges a lunch. What should I do in this case? Note that we don’t need to donate any money.

ANSWER: Generally speaking, this is permissible. One must be careful not to break the hearts of the poor and not to bring evil eye to himself.

My question is about sadaqah jariyah. I set up a link to raise money through donations so I can build a water well on behalf of my grandmother. Is this valid? as I’ve been told it has to be her own money or children’s money. I would like to know which information is authentic as I would love to get all the help since I cannot do it on my own or just with my family’s help.

ANSWER: Using artificial intelligence and being a robotic engineer is permissible. Having a statue like robot is not. It is not permissible to make anything that resembles a human being with a head and body.

My father runs a tobacco store, selling cigars, cigarettes and the like. He wishes that I take over the main store so he can expand it. He will start training me in a week on how to manage the store. I know this is haram. But, how can I tell my father this is haram? Also, if he does not listen, is it permissible that I run the store until I can sell it and donate the money to charity?

ANSWER: You must tell him that this is prohibited in Islam and that the income is haram. You must not assist him in anything and you will sinful as he is if you do.

When I am driving and texting at the same time, and then I see a cop and put my phone down, is this shirk? (Since Allah was watching me I didn’t stop but for a cop I did…) this has been stressing me out a lot because sometimes I use my phone when I need to when driving.

Shaikh I want to ask what’s the ruling on gifting perfumes or clothes or heels shoes to women like if I give my friend these things and I say to her that don’t use these things outside and if she use them outside so will I’ll be sinful for that as I know that these things are only allowed in front of mahrams so what’s the ruling?

ANSWER: If you don’t know whether she will use it in haram or not, this is permissible. But if you are sure she will use it in haram, this is prohibited.

Recently my company terminated me. I had an agreement with the company where the company states that the end-of-service benefits are included in the Salary. However, as per the labor law it is illegal. My question is whether it is halal to claim the end of service benefits in the labor court or not. Which one is correct to follow the labor law or the agreement? Kindly advise

ANSWER: If it’s mentioned in your agreement that end service is included in your monthly salary and you signed on it then you cannot claim it through labor court. Their sin in disobeying the authorities doesn’t make it halal for you to take what is not yours again!

Hi I have a animal which is a hamster, if the hamster dies what can I do with it? Can I bury him in the garden and put him in a box? Or can I cremate him? If none of these what can I do? What is the ruling? thanks

ANSWER: It’s not permissible to keep hamsters as pets. A hamster looks like a mouse and is considered from the same species of rodents. If it dies, you should bury it in the ground without any box.
