QUESTION: I used to steal my Grandmother’s money from the sales of her market when I was younger. I can’t say the exact amount I stole but I think it was quite a lot. My grandmother has passed away so I can’t seek forgiveness from her. I have repented but I feel this might not be enough. What do I do?

QUESTION: If I give charity to poor muslims for the purpose of asking Allah to heal my wife’s illness, can I pay that charity from my zakat money, or must that be sadaqa in addition to my zakat because I am asking for help.

ANSWER: No problem in asking Allah while giving your zakat money. However, it would be more effective if you were to give charity that is not mandatory upon you to give.

QUESTION: If I join an organization and help with their website and Facebook by posting cute pictures of the cats, but once the cats are ready for adoption, people must pay a fee to support the organization’s operations and cover the costs incurred since the cat’s arrival, does this count as helping in sin, considering that selling cats and dogs is forbidden? I need to do volunteering for my PhD.
