QUESTION: In islam can a husband order his wife to serve her in laws?

08 Jul

ANSWER:

She is not obliged to obey him in this as she is not a servant to them! However, if they visit his house, as any guest, she is obliged to honor them and serve them but not if they are staying there for ever as in the case of a joint family system.

QUESTION: My father is a Sufi who does spiritual healing (_dam_) and gives amulets (_ta’weez_) using words that ask for help from spiritual elders. He also does numerology for homes, businesses, and past/future events. I believe these practices are incorrect. He doesn’t charge, but disciples voluntarily give him money. Is it _halal_ to eat food bought with that money?

QUESTION: I received a marriage proposal from a revert brother. He wants to dedicate his life to da’wah, work only 4 days a month, and support the family with that income. He also wants to teach his children only Islamic knowledge, not worldly education. He seems practicing otherwise. Are these major concerns? Is it reasonable to decline the proposal despite his deen? Please guide me.
