Generally, it is not permissible for a teacher to accept gifts from students.

This question is from one of my sister in Islam. She works as a teacher in a school in India. In India Sep 5, is celebrated as teachers day, the day commemorates the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan, a philosopher and a teacher in India. On this day students use to give gifts to their teachers, so she wants to ask is it allowed for her to accept gifts fromher students on this day?

If I see my sister’s son insulting his mother, and I am the witness of all he did to her in the past, what should be my attitude towards him when he is unwilling to listen to my advice?
