I don’t know the full story here but I have seen many similar cases where it ended in divorce as such enslaving of the wife has dire consequences in the future but it would have been too late then. 

She must get him to have counseling or she is better off without such a person with lunatic behavior! 

He can’t be better than the prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam or his companions and they had never done such a thing with their wives!
