ANSWER:

Such a brother is arrogant and not following the Sunnah of the prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam and his marriage is bound to be a miserable one or end up in divorce. I am constantly counseling people like him on daily basis and I feel the hardship that their wives are undergoing.

Keep on advising him with good manners, wisdom, knowledge, and diplomacy. Plan for the worst and be ready to support the poor wife in her divorce case and custody of the children. 

QUESTION: My brother is oppressing his wife, he doesn’t allow her to go anywhere, he doesn’t allow her to visit her parents or her siblings even when there’s events like marriage or child birth, he only allows her to come with him a a few hours when there’s an even in our house, our mother spoke to him but he aggressively defended himself and said he will never allow her any freedom, what should we do?
