Once you make dua for protection, you believe firmly that Allah will protect you.

QUESTION: If I make a dua for protection to Allah, but I don’t necessarily believe that Allah is going to protect me, rather I believe that after making this dua I can be harmed or protected but it is gonna be for my benefit, is this a proper mindset?
