ANSWER:

This is not permissible as she spent that money by her own will unless she made it clear to him from the beginning that this is a loan and a debt on him to her.

QUESTION: If a wife willingly contributes her own income towards household expenses for some years, and later she decides not to spend from her income anymore, is it permissible in Islam for her to ask her husband to return the money she had spent before? Would it be considered haram for her to ask for it back?
