The talaq is valid and if this is the 1st or 2nd divorce, she must spend the iddah in her marital house which is 3 monthly cycles. If he does not take her back during the iddah period, she must leave his house after the iddah as she is no longer mahram to him and she must file for divorce with the civil court to decide who takes custody of the children and his financial obligations towards them. She must not stay in the house after the iddah is over and she can take her children with her if he doesn’t agree to leaving the house.
