They are absolutely wrong and your mother is sinful for this & its a major sin

Your father’s inheritance must be divided immediately according to sharia laws and given to all his heirs. Failing to do this is defiance to Allah’s commands in the Quran where He Himself was the One who distributed the inheritance

QUESTION: My father passed away four years ago. As with British law all his money and assets went to my mother. I have asked for this to be distributed according to the Sharia but my Mother and siblings said this will only be distributed after our mother passes away as she is the Mother and has full rights to these assets and can do as she pleases because a mother’s status in Islam is very high.
