We are doing a project for our Quran class and thinking about making a video with us in it with hijab. Is this permisable if only our classmates see this video?

This is not permissible.

Back in India, Muslim women wear a variety of colours and styles of the traditional salwar kameez, just like the rest of the women. But because they add a headscarf and dress in loose garments, with a long shawl draped over themselves, they appear distinct and are recognized as Muslim women. In Qatar, where I presently reside in however, I find most practicing Muslim women are increasingly giving up their country’s traditional dress code to adopt the Gulf-style black/plain abaya and the fitted niqab, for a variety of reasons including convenience, comfort, ‘fitting in’, being more cautious about one’s appearance and so on. While I do wear abayas, I am not comfortable in using them each time I step out of the house. I’d like to wear more colours (not just black or plain) and different but modestly-styled clothing which meet the conditions of the Islamic hijab but I am not sure if we can dress like this in a mixed community. Please confirm. (FYI, while majority of women wear abayas, there are many others who dress in other clothing such as long, loose skirts and blouses, gowns, shalwar-kameez and so on in public)

A Muslim woman wears what pleases Allah and doesn’t make her weird in the community! Wearing an abayah is the Norm. Wanting to wear colorful clothes in order to impress others is prohibited.

Is it permissible for a woman to perfume her skin and leave the house, provided the smell of the perfume is hidden by her abaya/clothes and cannot be smelt through them?

If she goes out and men will feel the odor she is sinful. But if she guarantees that not a single man would meet her or smell her perfume, this is permissible.

Is it permissible to cut my hair very short (just below the ears) and dye the hair of any colour (except black) if a woman wears the hijab

This seems permissible as long as you will not dye the hair in an unnatural color, or have a haircut that is specific for men.

Is it permissable to put women’s clothes into a charity box in my masjid. I don’t know if the women who will get these clothes will wear abaya.

if I am wearing a purse/abaya/khimar in a particular color or design that I don’t feel is odd or flashy, but another woman tells me she likes the color or she likes the design on me, does this mean that what I am wearing is too attractive and hence, not permissible?

For a woman, you can wax your armpits, legs and arms providing you don’t expose your awrah to other women! If you do that yourself, this is permissible.

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever wears a garment of fame and vanity, Allaah will dress him in a garment like it on the Day of Resurrection.” How can this hadeeth be applicable today? Is wearing Gucci haraam?

No, this is not what was intended by the hadeeth! If a person wears a weird colored clothes or ride a really weird car that he becomes famous and people point at him due to that, whether due to its value or cheapness, this is part of seeking fame with it!
