You must not look at them and socialize. You can say hi back to them but keep it serious and professional

QUESTION: Working as a cashier sometimes when there are female customers, I say them hi or smile at them (intentional& unintentional) or reply them with a smile when they say me hi. is it ok or would tht make my income haram? Can I smile or say them hello without looking at them?
