QUESTION: If I am personally satisfied with 100k mahr, but I know my family wants a higher amount, can I later forgive part of the mahr after the nikah contract? Since mahr is my right, I don’t want to burden someone with an amount they may find difficult to pay. Do I have to ask my father’s permission? Or I can do it by myself?
