ANSWER:

This is an issue of dispute and the most authentic opinion chosen by our scholars like ibn Othaimeen that there is no problem in fasting Saturday alone when there is a legitimate reason such as arafat or a’ashora or the fasting of Dawood peace be upon him 

QUESTION: Please can you clarify, some scholars say its not permissible to fast only on a Saturday one must fast a day before or after and this year Arafah happens to falls on a Saturday so they said one must fast on Friday too, How true is this?

QUESTION: I really wanted to fast on the Day of Arafah this year, as I learnt about the Hadith that it expiates the sins of the previous and the upcoming year, but I got my periods, which was decreed for me by Allah. Will I get the reward, will my sins be forgiven (if I verbally seek Istaghfaar) while I cannot fast?
