ANSWER:

It’s totally prohibited to be in such a gathering, whether he drinks, does drugs or not! The prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: whoever believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment must not sit on a table where people drink intoxicants! Allah also said in 4:140 that if you sit with such people, you are one of them!

QUESTION: My husband wants to celebrate new year with his non-muslim friends group that do all sorts of bad habits such as alcohol, drugs etc. My husband he prays 5x a day and fasts and does not consume alcohol. As a wife can I tell him not to associate himself with such people? His answer always is that I don’t do it im not committing sins.
