It’s not permissible to sit down before praying. If there’s very little time, you can keep standing.

QUESTION: If I don’t get enough time to perform tahiyatul masjid (1-1.5 minutes left for congregation) should I keep standing up till iqamah or can I sit down?

QUESTION: If a person misses congregation completely and is praying Fard individually in one place of the masjid and during his individual Fard prayer some people start their own separate congregational Fard prayer in another place in the masjid. Can this person break his individual Fard prayer to join that congregation?
