ANSWER:

He has to do it to the rest of his life as this is an act of worship which he had vowed upon himself. 

He can’t leave it unless he is unable to do it due to medical reasons or the likes.

QUESTION: If a person makes vow about praying tahajjud every week for a certain amount, but then he couldn’t persist on it and doesn’t want to be binding to it, is offering expiation enough for him to be out of it or he has to do it for rest of his life?
