QUESTION: I watched a video of you where you talking about zakat, then i realize that i need to pay zakat, so i did my level best to calculate how much zakat i need to pay. My question is, i give a certain amount of money to a person who needs money, but when i give it to him it was without the niyah of being zakat, so i can count it like zakat and pay the rest that amount of the calculate?

ANSWER:
If you did not intend to pay zakat before giving the amount then it will not be counted as zakat and it would be a general charity and sadaqah.
You need to have intention before giving the amount.
