ANSWER:

It’s not permissible to have premarital relationships in Islam. You must cut all ties with her immediately & send a proposal to her father asking her hand in marriage and you can’t contact her until he agrees & your nikah is done.

You are not obliged to have your parents’ consent as you are a man! If you financially independent, go ahead with the proposal and ask her father.

QUESTION: I want to marry a religious, educated, good-character girl in a halal way. I told my mother but she rejects it only because we’re the same age. Since childhood I obeyed my parents in everything. I’m 21 and not rushing marriage, I just want them to accept my choice so I can inform her family before she’s asked elsewhere. Please advise how to make them understand.
