QUESTION: I heard that it’s the sunnah to pray the 12 sunnah rakat at home. When i go out and it’s time for prayer i pray the fard and then when i get home, i pray the sunnah even if it’s time has passed. is this permissible?

ANSWER:
If you know the time would pass, you should pray them in the masjid itself as the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to do that sometime.
