ANSWER:

The imam has no impact on the validity of the marriage. He only registers it.

When your father says to the groom in the presence of two male Muslim witnesses : I give you my daughter in marriage and he answers: I accept, the Marraige is done. 

I have chosen a spouse for marriage and my father was not agreeing in beginning but now Alhamdulillah he agreed to proceed. My father is not practicing Muslim. He has chosen the local imam who does not have correct aqeeda and gives taweez to women. If I tell dad to change the imam he gets angry and is strict on him performing the nikah. What should we do?
