ANSWER:

No, the imam doesn’t take the liability if you miss a pillar like reciting fateha in the silent rakahs. He must offer an extra rakah after the imam says salam. 

QUESTION: If a person misses a pillar while praying behind an Imam from the beginning, will the imam take the laiability for it as in the case of mandatory actions? If not what should the person do?
