QUESTION: Our ustadh has long taught our Islamic studies classes with sincerity, patience, and great dedication despite his busy schedule, and has recently refused any payment for his time and effort. We wish to gift him a sadaqah jariyah project, keeping it secret so he never knows, as a surprise for him on the Day of Judgment. Is it permissible to do this (sadaqa jariya) for someone who is still alive?
