Sheikh I heard that zakat is calculated at 2.5% of the total value for buildings even with rental income. Is this correct, what if the person doesn’t earn enough cash to pay 2.5% of the whole value of the building.

ANSWER:

This is totally wrong.

If you own a building and it is let out, there is no zakat on such a building. The zakat is on the rent providing it stays with you for a lunar year.
