This is a recommended sunnah. If one ensures that the area is washed without inserting his fingers, this is sufficient.

Is running wet fingers between fingers and toes obligatory in wudhu? I have an impression that if I don’t do this, the water doesn’t get in those areas (which would render the wudhu invalid).
