Laughing is a human characteristics that Allah mentioned in the Quran when He said: “And that it is He (Allâh) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep.” 53:43

Our Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to laugh but his extreme laughter would be smiling until his teeth shows. Yet, the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam forbade us from excessive laughter and told us that it kills the heart.

Therefore, it is OK to laugh every now and then but not to make it a habit and not to do it excessively and surely not to spend money on it.
