You must not cut ties of kinship with them. You should at least give them Salam whenever you meet and keep the conversation limited to phone calls once in a while, presuming these are mahram relatives. 

is it impermissible if a person cuts off a abusive family member that does nothing but insult them and say things like “I wish you die” and “I wish you go to hell”? There is a hadith that says “The one who severs the ties of kinship will not enter Paradise.”
