ANSWER:

Allah mandates that you uphold ties with those who are in your kinship. You must maintain Salam at least when you see them or call them every now and then to check up on them or see if there is anything you can do for them. The in laws on the other hand are different as you are not obliged to connect to them.

I want to know can we maintain distance frm relatives who tell im spoiling their daughter inlaw or tell about about me n my hubby in the same relation….can i keep the kinship with only salam please clarify…

I don’t quite understand what it means to uphold the ties of kinship. Do I have to talk with my relatives on phone (I don’t live near them) regularly to uphold the ties? I see them once in a year or two.

sheikh, my family go out to far places sometimes for the purpose of enjoyment and they are not practicing and careless about the salah and I fear that if I go with them I would miss my salah and would be difficult for me to pray and I have to disobey them in this regard, is it permissible for me to disobey or should I go?
