You need to learn the book of Tawheed, a simple commentary of the Quran and a short explanation of Fiqh.
You can also  refer to tafsir ibn Kathir, tafseer Abdurahman Ass’idi, tafseer of Abu bakr Al Jazai’iri.

I seek to gain knowledge but I don’t know where to gain it from. Apart from the Quran, cannyou suggest any books by righteous scholars in english that I can read?

Sheikh I study alot on Islam and comparative religion and I try to spread the knowledge I have and I usually debate with family or friends but they get offended when I reject their cultural beliefs which goes against Quran and hadis. They say that I shouldn’t ask deep question on Islam and shouldn’t study islam too much. They feel that I’m young to educate them, what is your advice? I’m 18 btw.
