ANSWER:

It is not permissible at all to stand alone, away from the rows and pray, this will invalidate their prayers whether in fard or in voluntary prayers. 

I heard people saying we are bound to follow congregation rules in fardh only? Is it ok to pray separately (some ppl stand separately but following imam while all other stand in congregation) or not attaching shoulder/feet when praying nafl rakah in congregation (taraweeh & qiyyam).
