ANSWER:

Zakat is owed from you if you have any cash savings for a whole lunar year that reaches the nisab.  You can’t use zakat to pay off your debts. If you haven’t had any savings, there is no zakat on you.

I have debt on me. Last year i was working without salary for almost a year. Alhamdulillah i joined a different company and my salary is paid on time. But last year had to take help from friends to survive.So now Zakah is due. Can i use my zakah money to pay some of my debts? Is this allowed?
