As long as you have repented and feel bad about it, try your best to mention your friend with good things whenever he is not there as form of compensation.

I had backbite a friend,and I made Tawba afterwards ,my good deeds are deleted because of this?Or after tawba Allah has forgive me and my deeds are the same.I can not be relaxed because of this and I have bad remorse .
