ANSWER:

No problem in your father in law giving gifts to his daughter and this would be entirely her possessions. 

And no problem in him inviting and spending on his guests for the wedding, this is his choice.

I am planning my wedding and i want to how to do it step by step according to sunnah of Prophet s.a.w.w. & what practices should not be done. I also want to explain that i am strictly against dowry & against bride’s family spending money during the wedding but my father in law wishes to give things to his daughter & also wants to welcome guests with food from his pocket.

I think presented my question wrongly. I am very aware of Surah 24:30.But I am confused that you said one can only look at a girl at the initial meeting. I thought if one is quite sure that the marriage will go through, one can look at the girl to make him go ahead based on the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdillah and others.Did is misunderstand the ahadith or what is the evidence that I am wrong?
