The general teachings state that the best of men are the best and most kindest to their women.
With great powers come great responsibilities and some men may abuse that.
This is not permissible and they are sinful for that.

I am a British women interested in Islam. I wanted to ask you a question. Men have been given the authority to control their women. Now this is a good rule since men are more experienced in authority and leadership, I wanted to know whether they have the right to abuse this power on their own wish? Such as locking their women in house or not letting them to socialise?
