Here in India, It is a common practice once the dead is buried, at the time of finishing Salathu Janaza, then at the Grave after burial, then after 40 steps on way back; could be a learned person reciting a reasonable portion more so the Last Ayats of Surathul Baqra then of Durood (Sending Salaam to theProphet PBUH).
